In Rock is the fourth studio album by Deep Purple, released on 3 June 1970. It was the first studio album recorded without founding members Rod Evans (vocals) and Nick Simper (bass) . Supported by a 15 month world tour and featuring the classic MkII lineup the album features the classics ‘Child In Time’ and ‘Speed King’. Deep Purple in Rock was the band’s breakthrough album in Europe and would peak at No. 4 in the UK, remaining in the charts for months. In 2005 the album won the Classic Rock and Roll of Honour Award (given by Classic Rock magazine) in the category Classic Album.
